"Being gothic is far away the external look"

Always dressed in black cloth, and the dark make up contrast with her pale skin. She has born in Spain and since many years lives in Uruguay. Here discover a movement in a perfect tuning with her: the dark-gothic wave. She enjoys watching strange people. She defines herself as an eccentric person, and since the childhood she’s pride to be and express different than the others. With her boyfriend are part of FIXION, and an exponent of this urban tribe. "This movement is large than someone’s think,” she said.

- ¿Why you join this movement?

- The dark-gothic wave precedes me and was created by other people. In many ways I insert in some stereotype and definitions of "gothic" but not in a 100 per cent. I can’t be objective.

- ¿Can you bring me an example?

- I drink "mate" (a typical and traditional drink of Uruguay), and this behavior maybe none gothic realized. I have an ironic sense of humor: I can go to a cemetery, put a cigarette in a mouth of a statue and take a photograph.

- ¿What defines a gothic person?

- Uhhh... . This is a good topic for a sociologic thesis or art history. It could be so extensive discussion... The gothic spirit cover all art expressions and have many manifestations trough time. In my experience I feel like I live in this world and at the same time live in other place named "Dark Fields". I live in a parallel dimension.

- ¿How do you arrives to gothic movement?

- Trough the Cure album "Seventy Seconds" and after this I continues investigate. My relationship with Daniel (guitarist and singer of FIIXON) was transcendental. He opened the door that always interested me. With FIXION I learned too much about the dark-gothic aesthetic, and developed with FIXION's music and art. Also we consume a lot gothic art.

-¿The band you integrate it could defines "gothic"?

- FIXION is a long trajectory band in the local under-rock scene. In music terms FIXION is an 80's gothic rock oriented band, but include Punk, Metal and other particular influences. We're dark but intense. Our favorites bands are: The Cure, Siouxie & The Banshees, The Mission y Bauhaus, and others.

- ¿The others artistic activities you have, follow the same philosophy?

- My art is Dark. I'm Cinemateca School of Cinema's graduate and go on my experimental step. Also developed drawing and photography.

- ¿The Montevideo's gothic wave have a place to reunion and express?

- For example we organized a gothic party calls "Dark Gothic Party". It was two editions (2004 and 2005). I realized the promo spots to television. It was great and proves that there are a lot of people in this wave of art.

- ¿Have you sometimes feel discriminates by you external look?

- Only in a few opportunities and in the beginning when I abused in my attitude and make up. Always I prefer to pass unnoticed. It's my thoughts that attract or frighten people.

- I imagine that being gothic is far away the external look.

"I love the challenges. People fear the absurdity. I'm loose that with ages. I'm dark. I like the danger, the mystery, the death, the esoteric ways. I don't like normal people. It's bored me. I like to alter the world before the world alters me. Once I visit a gypsy in my natal town to revealed my destiny trough the cards. I feel curiosity. None want to bring near her house because think she was crazy" confess.
